An Ohio man, 27-year-old Micaiah I. Swindler, is facing murder charges after allegedly stabbing his father to death. Following the incident, Swindler reportedly dialed 911 and confessed to the crime, stating, “I just killed my father.” He was arrested on Monday without any resistance.
The Marysville Police Department received a distress call around 12:34 p.m. on April 21, 2025, reporting a stabbing incident at a residence on Meadowlark Lane, approximately 33 miles northwest of Columbus. Upon arrival, first responders discovered an adult male with multiple stab wounds inside the house. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Swindler was found inside the house and was promptly arrested. A thorough search of the premises revealed no other victims or occupants. Although the authorities have not officially identified the victim, Swindler identified him as his father, Joe Swindler, during the 911 call.
In the recorded 911 call, Swindler is heard confessing to the murder almost immediately. When asked why he committed the act, Swindler claimed divine intervention, stating, “God. God told me to.” He further confirmed this motive, saying, “Yes ma’am. I had orders.”
During an interview with detectives, Swindler revealed that he had stabbed his father in the head and neck to “put him out of his misery.” Earlier in the day, police had been called to the same address due to a dispute between Swindler and his father. The argument reportedly started over dishes, according to a police report.
A neighbor described the victim, Joe Swindler, as a quiet and polite man who had lived in the house for about two decades. Swindler is currently being held at the Tri-County Regional Jail on a $1 million bond and is set to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on May 1, 2025.
