Ana Bárbara Buhr Buldrini, a 31-year-old influencer from Mozambique, tragically passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest following multiple cosmetic surgeries in Istanbul, Turkey. Buldrini, who had a significant following on Instagram, had traveled to Turkey with her husband, Elgar Miles, to undergo breast augmentation, liposuction, and rhinoplasty procedures at Tusa Hospital. The surgeries were part of a promotional agreement with the hospital, which Buldrini was to advertise on her social media platforms.
Buldrini’s husband, Miles, revealed that the surgeries were a long-held dream of his wife’s, aimed at enhancing her aesthetic appeal. The couple, who had only recently tied the knot, had initially planned for the surgeries to take place on a Wednesday, allowing for an additional day of recovery. However, due to scheduling conflicts, the procedures were rescheduled to the preceding Sunday.
Miles recounted that the couple had visited the clinic on Sunday, intending only to familiarize themselves with the facility. However, the surgeon proposed to proceed with the surgeries immediately, despite Buldrini not having had adequate preparation. The couple had socialized with the surgeon the previous night, during which time Buldrini was encouraged to go ahead with the surgeries.
Despite Miles’ concerns, the surgeon assured him that there would be no complications. Consequently, Buldrini underwent the procedures the following day, concluding around 11 p.m. on Sunday. Miles was later shown a photograph of his wife in recovery and was informed that she was still under anesthesia.
However, the situation took a tragic turn when, after waiting for over an hour to see his wife, Miles was informed of her passing. He recounted a chaotic scene, with one doctor informing him that Buldrini’s heart was beating slowly, while another declared her dead.
The medical staff involved were initially detained at the hospital but were subsequently released by the police. Tusa Hospital has denied any allegations of malpractice, asserting that their team attempted to resuscitate Buldrini following her surgery. The hospital has also stated that it is fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation.
