In a tragic incident near Tel Aviv, a new mother was among the victims of a terrorist attack, according to Israeli officials. The woman, identified as Inbar Segev-Vigder, was reportedly killed while protecting her nine-month-old son, Ari, during the attack. The State of Israel account shared the heartbreaking news on Wednesday, stating that Segev-Vigder’s heroic act saved her son’s life.
The attack, which occurred late Tuesday at a train station in Jaffa, a central Israeli city, resulted in the death of Segev-Vigder and six others. Two Palestinian terrorists reportedly initiated the attack, opening fire and stabbing victims. The incident occurred shortly before Iran launched a series of ballistic missiles into Israeli territory, a retaliatory act for the previous week’s killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and several other high-ranking officials of the terror group.
Footage from surveillance cameras showed the attackers, armed with a gun and knife, disembarking from the train. The aftermath of the attack was gruesome, with several victims’ bodies scattered on the ground and inside the light rail carriage.
Segev-Vigder, a 33-year-old personal trainer and Pilates instructor, leaves behind her husband and son. Another victim of the attack was identified as Shahar Goldman, a 30-year-old professional dancer who had been married just a year prior.
The attack also claimed the lives of Revital Bronstein, 24, Nadia Sokolenko, 40, and Ilia Nozadze, 42. The identity of the seventh victim has not yet been publicly disclosed. In addition to the fatalities, at least 16 others were injured in the attack, according to Israeli police.
The terrorists, residents of the Israeli-occupied West Bank town of Hebron, were shot and killed by security guards and armed civilians. Authorities reported that while the men had no previous arrests, one had been involved in a past demonstration that disrupted the peace.
