Former NFL Player Sentenced for Brutal Murder

Former NFL player Kevin Ware, 44, has confessed to the brutal murder of his girlfriend, Taylor Pomaski, 29, whose remains were discovered months after her family reported her missing. The court in Harris County, Texas, has sentenced Ware to 30 years in prison for the heinous crime. Pomaski was last seen alive in April 2021, and her remains were not found until months later. Authorities report that she had been beaten, stabbed, strangled, and burned.

In addition to confessing to the murder, Ware also pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence due to his desecration of Pomaski’s body. Court documents reveal that the victim’s body was burned post-mortem. Pomaski was last seen on April 25, 2021, after attending a party. Following her disappearance, Ware was uncooperative with investigators and quickly became a person of interest.

In December 2021, human remains were found in North Harris County, believed to be Pomaski’s. Forensic testing confirmed the identity of the deceased woman in early May 2022. Ware, who had been under suspicion for over a year, was indicted for Pomaski’s murder in late July 2022. Interestingly, Ware had been arrested a month prior for allegedly violating bond conditions on weapon and drug charges, which he incurred less than a week before Pomaski went missing.

Witnesses reported that the couple had a violent altercation at the party where Pomaski was last seen alive. Court documents reveal that Ware confessed to killing her around April 28, 2021. Her family reported her missing on May 11 of the same year when she failed to contact them on Mother’s Day, which was also her father’s birthday.

Pomaski’s mother, Leslie Mandeville, expressed her shock and grief in a June 2021 report, stating that her daughter never missed such occasions. Pomaski’s former boyfriend, Eric Zuleger, also revealed that she had been planning to leave Ware and start afresh.

Ware, a former tight end for the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Commanders, had a brief two-season career in the NFL, playing 16 games.
