Father Fatally Stabbed by Mother of His 2-Year-Old

A Florida woman, 31-year-old Kaity E. Maldonado, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, the father of her two-year-old child. The incident reportedly occurred after a heated domestic dispute, during which neighbors claim to have heard Maldonado threaten to grab a knife. The identity and age of the victim have not been disclosed by the authorities.

The Miami Gardens Police Department responded to a 911 call around 4 p.m. on March 24, reporting a domestic violence incident at a residence on Northwest 177th Street. The caller allegedly overheard a heated argument between a man and a woman, followed by the woman’s threat to fetch a knife.

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders found Maldonado kneeling in the driveway, covered in blood. A blood-stained 6-inch butcher knife was found next to her. Maldonado reportedly confessed to the officers that she had killed her child’s father, claiming that he had attacked her.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Maldonado told the police, “He attacked me and I stabbed him, I stabbed him, I stabbed him at least 13 times. He is in the kitchen, lying down. He needs, he needs ambulance, he needs ambulance because I think I stabbed him in the neck too.”

Inside the house, authorities discovered the victim lying in a pool of his own blood. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue airlifted the victim to Aventura Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The police revealed that Maldonado and the victim had been in an on-and-off relationship for about two years and had been cohabitating in the Miami Gardens home for approximately five months before the incident.

A witness at the scene reportedly captured some of the argument on video and handed the footage over to the police. The witness claimed to have heard Maldonado say, “You tried to choke me! And see, he bit me! He bit me! Now I am grabbing a knife and I don’t give a [expletive].” The victim, allegedly seated on a bar stool, pleaded with Maldonado, asking why she was doing this and denying any wrongdoing. The witness reported seeing Maldonado stab the victim multiple times when he tried to disarm her.

Maldonado appeared in court on Monday, where a judge found probable cause for the murder charge and ordered her to be held without bond. She is currently detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
