A shocking incident unfolded in a Florida home when a father discovered his intoxicated tenant, a registered sex offender, in an inappropriate situation with his 7-year-old daughter. The tenant, Daniel D’Angelo, 53, was apprehended by local law enforcement on Sunday night following the incident. The young girl reportedly woke up to find D’Angelo lying on top of her, touching her leg and ear.
The father, who was previously unaware of D’Angelo’s criminal history, entered his daughter’s room in their Port Charlotte residence around 11 p.m. and found D’Angelo in the act. This discovery led to a physical confrontation as the father tried to remove D’Angelo from his daughter’s presence.
During the incident, the father managed to capture two photographs of D’Angelo. One image depicted D’Angelo pulling up his trousers while on the child’s bed, and the other showed him exiting the room shirtless, as per court documents.
Law enforcement officials have characterized D’Angelo as an alcoholic who had been drinking throughout the day leading up to the incident. D’Angelo, who had recently moved into the home, failed to register his new address with authorities, a mandatory requirement for sex offenders in Florida.
Upon further investigation, D’Angelo alleged that the incident was a setup. However, investigators discovered his shirt in the girl’s bed and obtained the explicit photos taken by the father, as indicated by court records.
D’Angelo’s previous living arrangements also raised concerns. Robin Hart, a former roommate, expressed fear of D’Angelo due to his persistent and aggressive behavior. His former landlord, identified only as Kevin, described D’Angelo as a heavy drinker who frequently behaved erratically.
D’Angelo is currently facing charges of second-degree lewd and lascivious conduct and third-degree failure to register as a sex offender, according to jail records. He is currently detained at the Charlotte County Jail in Punta Gorda.
