Fatal Stabbing Outside Barclays Center

A fatal stabbing occurred outside Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old man, according to police and local sources. The victim, identified as Michael Hernandez, was reportedly attacked by a group of four teenagers near the intersection of Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues. The assault, which took place around 9 p.m. on Friday, involved Hernandez being stabbed once in the chest and multiple times in the back.

Despite his injuries, Hernandez managed to walk a short distance before collapsing near the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Atlantic Avenue. He was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

A local resident, a 55-year-old man living in an apartment overlooking the scene, reported hearing screams around the time of the incident. Initially, he dismissed the noise as teenagers he had heard earlier in the evening. However, approximately 15 to 20 minutes later, he noticed a significant police presence in the area.

The resident, an engineer named Bjorn Breivik, described the scene, noting the arrival of numerous police cars and officers. He also mentioned seeing what he believed to be a pool of blood in the middle of the street. Breivik expressed his shock and dismay at the violent incident, emphasizing the tragic loss of human life.

Another local, Frode Thorsen, a 60-year-old engineer also from Norway, was walking his dog in the area when he learned about the murder. Visibly shaken, Thorsen expressed his concern about the safety of the neighborhood.

Linda Farhood-Karasavva, a 76-year-old retired professor who frequently travels to Brooklyn from Manhattan, was on her way to a show when she heard about the killing. She described the incident as “disgusting” and expressed her concern about the increasing violence in the city. As a mother, she empathized with the pain of losing a child in such a brutal manner. She lamented the state of the city she loves, expressing her sadness at the escalating violence.
