A fatal shooting occurred at a United States Postal Service (USPS) processing facility in Missouri City, Texas, on Monday night. Local authorities reported that one worker was killed, and another employee was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The tragic event unfolded around 10 p.m. at the processing facility located at 611 Highway 90 Alt. Upon receiving reports of a shooting, police arrived at the scene to find one worker dead from gunshot wounds. Another employee was subsequently arrested. The large facility was promptly evacuated, with video footage showing numerous workers gathered outside amidst a significant police presence.
The victim was identified as Kevin Hines, a contractor for USPS. The individual taken into custody was named as Derrick Lott, a USPS employee, who has since been charged with murder. As of now, Lott remains in custody, and no other injuries were reported during the incident.

In the wake of the incident, mail processing at the facility has been suspended pending an investigation. The facility, located approximately 14 miles southwest of Houston, was the site of a press briefing held by Dana Carter, an inspector with the Houston Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Carter confirmed the shooting and assured the public that the situation was under control and posed no threat to the community.
