Elderly Couple Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide at Nursing Home

A tragic incident unfolded in a Pennsylvania nursing home when a 90-year-old man fatally shot his 89-year-old wife before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide. The incident occurred on Thursday at the Manatawny Manor nursing home in East Coventry township.

The elderly man, who was severely injured in the incident, later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. According to Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe, the man had visited the nursing home on several occasions prior to the incident. However, it remains unclear whether any prior interactions or statements made by the man could have indicated his intentions.

The district attorney emphasized that the incident is being treated as isolated. He commended the nursing home for their efforts in managing the situation and continuing to provide resources to the residents. The identities of the man and his wife have not been disclosed by the police.

The incident has left the nursing home community in shock. Relatives of other residents expressed their surprise and concern. One resident’s son, Pat Erb of Boyerton, recounted how his father heard a commotion before his room was temporarily closed off by the staff.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. The nursing home has not released any official statement regarding the incident. The community is left grappling with the tragic event, as they mourn the loss of two of their residents.
