Eight Injured in Stabbing Incident at Taylor Swift Themed Event, Suspect Arrested

Eight individuals, including children, were harmed in a stabbing incident in Southport, a town in northwest England, on Monday. A male suspect was apprehended in connection with the incident, which was described as “horrendous” by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The local Merseyside police, who were armed, declared a “major incident” following the multiple stabbings, but assured the public that there was no broader threat.

The North West Ambulance Service confirmed that they had treated eight individuals with stab wounds. The victims were transported to various hospitals, including a children’s hospital. Prime Minister Starmer expressed his shock and concern over the incident on social media, thanking the police and emergency services for their prompt response.

Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, was in the House of Commons at the time of the incident. She updated Parliament on the situation, describing it as “extremely serious”. She also expressed her support for the police and emergency services, thanking them for their quick and brave response.

The incident occurred at a property on Hart Street in Southport, north of Liverpool, around 11:50 am local time. Merseyside Police responded to reports of a stabbing and dispatched at least 13 ambulances to the scene. The police confirmed that there were several casualties and that a male suspect had been detained and a knife seized. The suspect was taken to a police station.

Local business owner Colin Parry, who reported the incident to the police, described the scene as reminiscent of a horror movie. Another resident, who advised her neighbors to secure their homes, reported hearing numerous sirens and seeing a helicopter circling overhead.

Local media reported that a “Taylor Swift Yoga and Dance Workshop” for children aged two to six was taking place near the scene of the attack in Southport, a seaside town in the borough of Sefton in Merseyside, northwest England.
