Doctor Tragically Killed While Defending Wife and Daughter

A tragic incident unfolded in Tennessee on Sunday when a 32-year-old doctor was fatally shot while protecting his wife and toddler daughter from an armed robber. The family was out for a walk when they were accosted by a masked man, later identified as Marious Ward, who demanded their wallets.

The affidavit reveals that when Ward aimed his weapon at Anastasia Bulakhov, the doctor’s wife, Alexander Bulakhov intervened. A struggle ensued, during which the firearm discharged, critically wounding Alexander. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he did not survive his injuries.

The Memphis Police Department promptly initiated a homicide investigation. Surveillance footage led them to the suspects, who were seen fleeing in a white vehicle. Authorities apprehended Ward and his alleged accomplice, Brandy Rucker, during a traffic stop the following day.

Alexander Bulakhov had recently moved to Memphis to start a postdoctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Hospital. His wife, Anastasia, is currently unemployed. In response to the tragedy, the hospital has launched a fundraising campaign to support the bereaved family.

St. Jude Children’s Hospital expressed their profound grief over the loss in a statement, pledging their support to the family during this challenging time.

Ward and Rucker are now facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a crime, and attempted murder. Their court appearance is scheduled for December 1st.

The incident has sent ripples of shock and fear through the community, underscoring the need for enhanced safety measures and vigilance. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
