Police said Brianna Johnson, known online as DreamDoll Brii, died after a white sedan pulled alongside the SUV and opened fire.
MIRAMAR, Fla. — A 21-year-old South Florida social media influencer was killed and two men were wounded early Sunday when gunfire struck a lime green Lamborghini Urus on a residential road in Miramar, police said.
Brianna Johnson, known online as DreamDoll Brii and ItGirlBri, died after the shooting near Southwest 27th Court and Sunshine Boulevard. The case drew wide attention because of Johnson’s online following, the unusual vehicle involved and surveillance video that appeared to show the attack as it unfolded. Police said no arrests had been announced, and detectives were still working to identify the people in the suspect vehicle.
Officers responded around 5:30 a.m. Sunday after ShotSpotter alerts reported multiple rounds fired in the area. Investigators said Johnson and two men were inside the Lamborghini as it traveled west toward Sunshine Boulevard. A white sedan, described in some reports as a possible BMW, pulled alongside the driver’s side and someone opened fire. “This is no way to wake up on a Sunday morning; it’s a chaotic scene,” Miramar Police Chief Delrish Moss said. The Lamborghini continued forward after the shooting, then crashed near a home as neighbors came outside to find the SUV riddled with bullets.
All three people in the Lamborghini were struck. Fire rescue crews took them to Memorial Regional Hospital, where Johnson died from her injuries. Police did not immediately release the names of the two men. Family members said one of the wounded men was Johnson’s cousin and remained hospitalized in critical condition. Another man, who was shot in the face, was later released after having his jaw wired shut. Investigators have not publicly confirmed a motive. Moss said police did not believe there was a broader threat to the neighborhood, but he said the vehicle appeared to have been targeted for a reason that remained under investigation.
Home surveillance video reviewed by local news outlets appeared to show a light-colored vehicle following the Lamborghini shortly before the shooting. Other video showed the SUV drifting after the gunfire and coming to a stop near a home. A 911 caller told dispatchers that someone had crashed into the caller’s house, while other callers pleaded for an ambulance as screams could be heard in the background. Neighbor Eugenia Cruz said she first thought the shots were fireworks because the shooting happened during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Other residents described hearing a long burst of gunfire before seeing police and rescue crews arrive.
Johnson had built a large audience on Instagram and TikTok, where she posted lifestyle videos and music-related content. Her accounts drew hundreds of thousands of followers, and condolences poured into her pages after her death became public. She was also known for the viral track “Bend Ova.” Police and local media said investigators were reviewing social media posts and video that may show events before the shooting, including reports of a large party and a possible dispute at a Shell gas station. Authorities have not said whether those events are directly connected to the attack.
The shooting remains an active homicide investigation. Detectives are examining surveillance video, 911 recordings, witness statements and any digital evidence tied to the victims’ movements before the gunfire. Police have not released the suspect’s name, the number of shooters or a confirmed license plate for the white sedan. They also have not said whether the weapon or weapons used in the shooting have been recovered. The next step for investigators is to identify the vehicle and the people inside it, determine where the Lamborghini had been before the attack and establish whether any earlier confrontation led to the shooting.
The crash and gunfire left residents shaken in a quiet part of Miramar where many were still awake or beginning their morning after holiday celebrations. Some neighbors said they stepped outside expecting to see fireworks debris, only to find a crime scene. Carlos Regueiro, who lives nearby, said the violence made no sense during a weekend when families had gathered for celebrations. Cruz said the shooting left people feeling unsafe in their own neighborhood. Police said the scene was disturbing but stressed that the evidence pointed to a specific vehicle being targeted rather than a random attack on residents.
No arrests had been announced as of Wednesday, July 8. Johnson’s death remains under investigation, and police said detectives are still seeking information about the white sedan and the moments before the shooting.
