Daycare Worker Left Baby in Scalding Water for More Than 3 Minutes

A Georgia mother has filed a lawsuit against a daycare center, alleging that her infant son was left in scalding hot water by an employee. Sharece Beasley entrusted her then 9-month-old son, Virgil, to the care of Young Mindz Learning Academy in Decatur, Georgia, in 2022. A surveillance video from the day of the incident reportedly shows an employee placing Virgil on a changing table, undressing him, and then putting him in a sink filled with hot water for several minutes.

The video, obtained by local news outlet WSB, allegedly shows the employee not realizing the baby was burned until after she removed him from the sink. The employee then reportedly left the baby unattended as she walked around the facility for 15 minutes. The lawsuit claims that the daycare center’s policy prohibits employees from bathing children, allowing only the use of wet wipes for cleaning.

Michael Neff, Beasley’s attorney, stated that the employee disregarded this policy. Beasley shared with WSB the painful recovery process her son had to endure, which included painful urination and blister popping. She expressed her distress at watching her son go through such pain, stating that no amount of pain medication could alleviate his suffering.
