Sheehan gained recognition for his roles on popular soap operas such as “General Hospital” where he portrayed the character of lawyer Joe Kelly in an impressive total of 205 episodes from 1979 to 1982.
His outstanding performance on “General Hospital” earned Sheehan a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role in a Daytime Drama Series. Following his success on the show, he joined the cast of the CBS spinoff series “Knots Landing” from 1983 to 1988, portraying the role of reporter Ben Gibson. Sheehan appeared in over 100 episodes before his departure in Season 8, when his character decided to go to South America and never returned.
Doug Sheehan’s acting career spanned several decades, with his final screen roles occurring in 2003 in the series “What I Like About You” and “Sabrina The Teenage Witch,” where he played the character Sabrina’s father.
