Armed Men Open Fire in Mall Food Court

Fort Wayne, IN – Fort Wayne Police are on the hunt for a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred inside the Glenbrook Mall’s food court on Saturday. Two individuals were injured in the incident, with one being shot in the foot and another suffering a broken foot while fleeing the scene. Both victims are expected to recover from their non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have made an arrest but believe the apprehended individual did not fire the shots. The suspect, 22-year-old Brandon Key, Jr., faces charges of Level 6 Felony Criminal Recklessness, Level 6 Felony Intimidation, and Misdemeanor Resisting Law Enforcement – Fleeing. According to the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD), Key was one of two armed men present during the shooting.

Eyewitnesses described the chaotic moments as shoppers quickly sought shelter in stores and were later safely evacuated with the assistance of officers from various agencies and the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

This is not the first shooting incident at Glenbrook Mall within the past year, as separate shootings took place in July and September of 2023.

Glenbrook Mall remained closed for the rest of Saturday as investigators secured the scene and gathered evidence. Law enforcement hopes that public cooperation will aid in identifying the suspect and bringing them to justice.
