Authorities confirmed on Tuesday that adult film actress Sophia Leone, 26, passed away due to an accidental drug overdose. Leone was discovered deceased in her Albuquerque residence on March 1. Initially, her death was under investigation as it was deemed “suspicious” and “unique” by the police, despite the absence of any visible signs of trauma on her body.
The Albuquerque Police Department later confirmed that Leone’s death was the result of an accidental overdose. The specific substances Leone had consumed, however, remain undisclosed. A police report, which was made available to the public, revealed that Leone’s mother had informed the police about her daughter’s history of suicidal ideation and heavy drinking.
Leone’s death was officially confirmed as a drug overdose by the authorities on Tuesday. The 26-year-old actress was found lifeless in her New Mexico residence at the beginning of March.
Leone’s mother shared with the police that her daughter had a history of struggling with mental health issues and alcohol abuse. In a poignant final Instagram post from last September, Leone urged her 300,000 followers to “go outside and just appreciate life a little extra today.”
Born and raised in Miami, Leone entered the adult film industry in 2014. Over the course of her career, she starred in more than 80 scenes, as per her IMDb page.
