Adult Film Star on Trial for Decapitation Murder

In a gripping trial unfolding in a Henderson courtroom, Evan Michaels, 47, is facing charges for the alleged murder of Jonathan Mallette, her children’s father, in August 2023. Michaels, who previously worked in the adult film industry under the pseudonyms Nikki Fairchild and Tracy Tavares, is accused of bludgeoning Mallette with a stick and subsequently decapitating him in his residence.

Prosecutors have presented a chilling narrative, suggesting that Michaels used chemicals in an attempt to incinerate Mallette’s remains. Disturbing images from the crime scene, showing bottles of these chemicals, have been presented as evidence. The prosecution has described the case as a “wild ride,” referencing the turbulent relationship between Michaels, Mallette, and his son, Debbie Year Mallette, whom Michaels wed in 2021.

The defense, however, paints a different picture. Led by attorney Proper Trask, the defense argues that the Henderson police failed to consider other potential suspects, focusing their investigation solely on Michaels. Trask pointed to a message sent by Michaels to Debbie Year Mallette just days before the murder, in which she accused him of infidelity and expressed her wish to end their marriage.

The prosecution contends that Michaels saw Mallette’s death as the only means to secure the future she desired, particularly after losing custody of her two children. Mallette, on the other hand, was reportedly moving into Michaels’ home in search of stability.

Debbie Year Mallette, who is not facing charges, is expected to testify during the trial. Prosecutors have confirmed that no cell phone or video evidence implicates him in the crime.

Adding to the complexity of the case, the murder weapon and Mallette’s head have yet to be found. Michaels’ legal woes continue to mount, as she was previously in court on a child abuse charge shortly after the alleged murder.
