A heartbreaking event took place on Saturday at Cape Hatteras National Seashore in North Carolina when a 17-year-old Virginia boy tragically died after a sand dune collapsed on him, trapping him in a deep hole he had dug.
His family and friends frantically searched for him until they found the teen buried in the sand, and immediately contacted the rescue team.
Officials reported that they received a 911 call at around 2 pm regarding the teen’s situation. First responders worked diligently to free him from the sand and started providing CPR, yet they were unable to bring him back to life.
