The Westchester County Police Department in New York confirmed her death, revealing that Ariela Mejia-Polanco, as she was known off-screen, was discovered deceased in her vehicle on the Cross County Parkway on August 17.
The police, following an initial investigation, concluded that Mejia-Polanco succumbed to gunshot wounds. They further stated that her death was not random and she was likely a target of violence. The case is still under investigation by the General Investigations Unit, with assistance from other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Mejia-Polanco was a popular figure on Instagram, boasting over 566,000 followers. She frequently posted content related to fashion and modeling. Her sudden death has left her fans and followers in shock.
Tekashi 6ix9ine, a close friend of Mejia-Polanco, took to social media to express his grief. In a series of Instagram stories, he paid tribute to the Dominican content creator, calling her a “tremendous woman” and the “queen of New York.” He also shared a snippet of their favorite song, “Obsesión” by Aventura, as part of his tribute.
Ikon New York, where Mejia-Polanco worked, also mourned her loss on social media. The restaurant praised her joy, humility, and caring nature, stating that she always stood out for these qualities. They announced a temporary closure out of respect for their beloved team member.
Starlet of NY, a Queens-based lounge, also paid tribute to Mejia-Polanco. They described her as a unique soul, a beautiful friend, loving mother, and daughter whose energy and smile could light up any room. They expressed their deep sadness over her loss and stated that her spirit would continue to live on with them.
