3 dead, including a child playing video game during home invasion

Tragic news has emerged from one of the most affluent areas of Illinois, where three people have been declared dead and one individual taken into custody after a home invasion. The Bolingbrook Police Department (BPD) issued a press release on Sunday stating that the incident had resulted in the deaths of two adults and one child, with a fourth person being wounded.

The emergency call was received by police at 8 pm local time, leading them to a residence on Lee Lane where the deceased were reportedly killed by gunshots. The wounded individual, an adult woman, was rushed to a nearby hospital. No further details have been released by authorities concerning the age of the victims or their identities.

The BPD issued an update on Monday, notifying the public that a suspect in the shooting had been found and detained, although no further information was given. They also mentioned that their officers and investigators were working hard on the case. It was later confirmed by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office that the incident had indeed occurred in the area. The BPD also stated that they would be releasing more information later in the day.

The local residents were obviously distressed by the events, with one neighbor, Ryan Hedberg, telling the local ABC station WLS that he had heard two gunshots shortly after arriving home. Another anonymous neighbor affirming that her son had been playing an online video game with the young girl victim prior to her death. Police remained at the crime scene until 5:30 am on Monday, asking anyone with information to come forward.
