2 Dead, 4 Injured After Shooting at Illegal Speakeasy

Philadelphia, PA – Two individuals were killed and four others sustained injuries in a shooting incident at an illegal speakeasy in Philadelphia’s Strawberry Mansion neighborhood early Sunday morning. The victims, ranging in age from 22 to 53, were found with gunshot wounds at the scene on Myrtlewood Street.

Authorities report that a 53-year-old man was pronounced dead after being shot in the head, while a 41-year-old man, struck in the chest, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. A 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his hand was also discovered and is expected to recover. Additionally, three individuals – a 22-year-old woman shot in the leg, a 28-year-old man shot in the leg and hip, and a 33-year-old woman shot twice in the arm – arrived at local hospitals in private vehicles, all in stable condition.

The perpetrator is believed to have fired at least ten shots from the street, targeting the illegal establishment. So far, no arrests have been made, and authorities are still working to establish a motive for the shooting. The investigation is currently underway.

This incident follows the recent swearing-in of Mayor Cherelle Parker and the appointment of a new police commissioner, who declared a public safety emergency just ten days ago. Unfortunately, gun violence remains a significant concern in Philadelphia, and this constitutes the city’s first mass shooting this year.

As Philadelphia Police continue their investigation, anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to come forward and contact the authorities.
